Maker's  Journey

By Soren Rose Studio

Through the Catskill Mountains runs Warner Creek. On its way from Indian Head to Phoenicia, it passes a remote hideout on Silver Hollow Road. Nature’s calmness surrounds the hideout and makes you forget time and place. A more perfect setting for reflection and processes of creation does not exist. We would like to invite you and fellow creatives and craftsmen from around the world for a maker’s journey at this wondrous place.

The journey is the first of its kind and the foundation for a platform where knowledge and hands-on experiences connect creatives; where we raise the boundaries for what we believe is possible; where new friendships are made and where we might come up with design that can move our world forward in a more sustainable way.

We do not know where the journey ends, but we do know it always begins with good ideas

Let us make them together

Survival ARCHITECHTURE

What would you do if you where left alone with nothing but nature? Hannes Wingate has the answer! This workshop was about the critical encounter between people and nature, architecture and craftsmanship or in it’s own simplicity – the knowhow behind a shelter.

THE SAUNA

Tom Bonamici and Anthony Zollo guided us trough a four day class where we learned how to make wooden structures without the use of modern tools and looked into the design principles behind the old Japanese building technics.

FIRE AND FOOD

This workshop was all about the technics and learning behind outdoor cooking. Jonn and William took us on a gastronomic journey in the untamed wilderness where everything was made over the open fire.

THE MAKING OF A BOW

Jason Beever gave us a unique look into his works of amazingly detailed bows and arrows.  From the cutting of the wood, to the usage of animal horns and tendons, the knowledge and skills Jason used to make his bows was truly inspiring.

Also, it is hard to imagine that there has never been a conference for the elite craftsmen in the world with this format. It's about time
